Audience Feedback for our Music Video

Our audience feedback was very positive. Most of the viewers in the cinema were from our target audience, knowing that our audience research was very thorough, we expected a positive response. As you know, our video was recorded with our own camera, this was one of the things mentioned in the feedback, the audience thought the quality of our music video was very high and professional. Our audience thought that we branded our artist very well, they thought that the costume changes fitted well with the genre. The audience though that the best part of our music video was the special effects that we used were the best part of our video. As a group this is a very big successful for us, it means that our audience research was successful and more importantly our video after all the hard work, appealed to our audience.

Researching Ancillary Products | Introduction to ancillary

Researching Ancillary Products - Introduction to ancillary

Ancillary Post

What is a Digipak?
It's a modern approach to CD/DVD packaging, usually made of thick cardboard, and allowing the possibility of including a lot of information on the band/artist in the form of a small stapled booklet that is inserted into a small pocket in the digipak. They are visually pleasing, allowing sophisticated graphics that can run across all the panels establishing a graphic theme. They can come with 4, 6 or 8 panels that fold outwards. They allow the possibility of including more than one disc, perhaps in the form of a DVD extras or additional recordings, that accompanies the release of a song, album or DVD.

What is Inside a Digipak
  1. Graphic design - Visual style; establishing on the front of the digipak is continued on inner panel.
  2. Acknowledgements - Information of particular tracks.
  3. Images of artist - Visual branding of the artist/band.
  4. Repeat of track list - Which includes more detail behind the track.
What is Outside a Digipak
  1. Artist name - Large font and also clear, and very clear to read.
  2. Track listing - Same font as band/artist or album name.
  3. Production information - Copyright and year of production, web address, record label and logo/name.
  4. Promotional sticker.
  5. Image of artist - Echoing visual style and colour scheme of front cover.

Production of Music Video - Progress Review

Production of Music Video - Notes for evaluation questions 3/4

Production of Music Video - Skills development

What I have done differently from AS production work.

Being more confident in how I approached my planning into this music video compared to when I filmed my opening to a teen film last year, there has been a big difference in how I planned now compared to last year.  The main point I feel was a major improvement was that I did a lot of audience reviews before hand, trying to understand what it was our target audience was looking for in a music video and planned how we could present this and also make it clear to us when undergoing filming on the music videos. Doing various interviews and asking our peers as it was relevant to our music video to gather a understanding of what was and wasn't acceptable for us to do. I believed that this helped us for the better as we had and kept a clear view of what we was going to do, so we could have a clear connection with the artist and target audience.
The use of many different media technologies, but the main one for us especially Prezi to present and also to have easy access to when looking over and applying our knowledge to the actual thing. This meant that presenting it to our class and teacher, they got a good understand of what we was aiming to do with our music video, also making sure that everything we researched was related to our actual target audience ensuring conventions linked well.

Production of Music Video - Audience feedback (teacher and target audience)

This video shows our target audience watching our music video, as you can hear they're feedback over all is very positive. This suggests that our research was successful as we managed to make sure that our video lived up to our target audiences expectations. We were really pleased to hear that the effects that we used were a great hit with our target audience. They also enjoyed that our music video gave off a feel good vibe as it was suppose too. After adding the footage that we had re-shot our audience clearly understood the role that Bernard played and they felt it worked well.
Our audience feedback went really well as it showed we researched well into our genre and audience.

Production of Music Video - Re-designing the blog

As part of development, I decided to re-design the whole blog to insure it reflected the artist properly aswell as distuributing the synergy used it our music video.

Firstly, I changed the background colour so it looked for professional and easier to read then I used the album cover as the header. The header acts a first impression for the audience; it also helps give an insight on what the blog is about.

I also added main song of our from ablum into a playlist at the bottom of the page.
I thought it would be helpful to be reminded of what song we chose.

Production of Music Video - New things on the blog

As part of my targets to improve the blog I wanted to make sure that the blog reflected the artist and was able to be used to advertise the artist as well as a way of presenting our work.
I decided that in order to allow people to easily access all of the artists social media I should connect it with the blog, so that every time the artist posts something on their Instagram or Twitter feed, it automatically comes through onto the blog. I though that by adding Instagram and Twitter widgets it would be much more professional than if I repeatedly posted screen shots of every change on Sash Vocals social media pages.
On the left hand side of the blog you can find the two, by clicking on them you can be taken to the official pages.
I was not able to embed Facebook at this point in time but I will try figure that out later on.

The next thing I changed on the blog was the background. The picture I decided to use was one of our digi pak ideas for a cover. Until we make our new album cover I felt this picture was useful.
It helps to make the blog appearance about our artist. Sash Vocals.

Production of Music Video - How to improve my blog

After getting feedback on how I am doing on my blog there are a number of targets I am setting myself again.
I believe my biggest issue when blogging is consistency, I tend to blog a lot very rarely. 'binge blogging'. This has to be my biggest downfall when blogging.
That is my first target - Be consistent with blogs !

The next target I am setting myself is to come up with independent posts, instead of just following the blogging check list. I want to be able to come up with new creative posts that advertise our artist 'Sash Vocals'

which brings me onto my next point/target. I want to make sure that the blog represents the artist instead of just being random. This could be done by changing the background by posting more of the artists social media and so on.

Production of music video - Skills development

I have learnt a variety of techniques which has improved my knowledge during post-production. This includes adding different types of effects that I previously had no understanding of and used in my groups video to develop the music video, thus making it stand out and be more effective.

Here are some examples.

This is a example of some of the editing I have learnt. This is a TimeLaps we created by maximising the speed of the clip and adding it in to our base tracks during the fast pace beat of the instruments and added the clip in correlation to the beat. I done this by focusing on the particular clip and clicking on motion which allows me to add effect on the clip increasing or decreasing the speed of the shot.

Another example was the effect of the recording logo around the close up of the clips we shot. We wanted the footage to look different as the artist was holding the camera, making the effect of the shot look more appealing. We done this by focusing on the close up shots and dragging on video filters and adding the effect on.

Finally, we added the Earthquake effect on two off our clips for when the beat drops to added some shake to the screen. We wanted to add effects to particular shots in our music video that would be effective and add some life to our video.

Production of Music Video - Skills development

How my skills have developed from AS production work.

Compared to last year when we filmed the opening to a teen movie, this year I was more organized on how i approached planning the production of the music video.
In order to make an improvement, I reflected back on the audience feedback and reviews so it would be easier to understand how to attract our main target audience and know what they would be typically looking for in a music video.
Being able to do various interviews asking teachers and other students what they thought of our video and reflecting upon their feedback to make our editing create a clear storyline in the music video .

Planning - Reflection on blog

In comparison to the last blog reflection I believe that I have improved on the consistency of my posts and I am now posting much more regularly. I have also been using many different ways of presenting my work, in order to keep track of what media technologies I am using to present my work I am keeping a tally of how often I use particular ways of presenting my work and which ones I could use more often.

The targets I am now setting myself is to be able to make more independent posts not just the posts I am required to blog.
The next target I want to set myself is again to be able to make my blog even more interesting maybe by creating more Vlogs or using other ways of presenting my blogs.

Planning - Pitch Feedback

The points that group 6 have to work on from this point is

  • Making a blog to show what costume/s the rest of the cast will be wearing.
  • Rethinking the industry section of our pitch. Maybe finding a more suitable record label for our artist.
  • Developing our social media for our artist even further. Maybe creating an instagram and facebook, and renaming the twitter account.

These are some of the feedback sheets that we got from everyone in class and what they though about our pitch and maybe what we can improve.

Planning - PITCH Synergy (Shpresa Smakiq)

One key element that we have all decided on using for synergy is this particular hand gesture. The reason we have chosen this is because it is easy to use and it is also symbolising a well known hand gesture for 'Hope' which ties in well with our theme of finding something wonderful. We all tend to hope for something wonderful.

Planning - PITCH Initial Ideas (Shpresa Smakiq)

Planning - PITCH Digipak and Advertisement (Sarah Obende)

Album Cover

  • For the album cover, I chose to use a picture of the London skies as our artist is from London and most of our video will be shot in london.
  • The foreground of the cover has our main artist: Sash Vocals to show the audience how he looks like
  • Sash Vocals has his hands in a prayer sign because that is our main synergy will show through our music video and it also symbolizes hope
  • The artist name & title of the song are in the name font.
