Research - Analysing costume, setting/location
Questions
1. The amount of costumes in music videos varies depending on the style of song and also the type of genre the song it. As you could see in the videos I chose, Pop and R&B tend to not change the costume to much as the song illustrated the artist so they may have wanted to keep the costume to a small amount. Whereas, in the Hip-Hop genre music video the costume changed a lot through the whole song because the artist are trying to show the audience there lifestyle through the music video.
2. There was a clear difference between the different genre types I selected in terms of the amount of style of the costumes. As a wide selection of different clothing was in the Hip-Hop music video to illustrate the artists lifestyle the style was also different to the others as the clothing was much more stand out than the others through the colour selection and how the clothing were dressed on the people involved.
3. The similarities between the use of location in the different use of genre were that they were all in urban place/area's. This is effective as they are trying to keep it up-to-date with the time period we are in and also so it can appeal easily with there target audiences. The differences is where the locations is set and how the setting is made out to look. With a high budget you could tell which music video stood out the most through the location/setting it was set in.
4. Props are significant in a music video as it illustrates what's happening in the music video and makes it much more clearer for the audience to understand what's going on. The props used in the music video's makes it more appealing to the target audience and links with the genre type of the song.
